My most recent project, Tiny Planets has yet to be released though, so for NDA reasons it will temporarily have to stay under wraps. Other projects that can be seen though are the test renders I've been producing over the last 6 months for Brazil R/S, a selection of images from an architectural project for a hotel called Nile Plaza, and a small selection of images from a video game project I worked on in the early 90's called Z. |
| I worked on the Nile Plaza Hotel project in late 1998 to mid 1999 for an architectural visualisation company called Commotion
. It was a project to produce visualisations of a
proposed hotel development in the heart of Cairo, Egypt. The project started as a relatively simple visualisation of
some five rooms, but after a favourable reception by our client the project expanded to some twenty five stills and
a number of animations of various suites, entranceways, gyms and function areas.
My role on this project was as CG lead, managing the production of the large number of CG props that we needed to dress each area of the hotel, environment production, texturing and leading the lighting team to light over fifteen different environments. The outcome of the project was developers raised the funds they needed and the hotel is currently being built in the Garden City region of Cairo on the banks of the Nile. |
| Z was a game produced by the Bitmap Brothers during the period 1992-1996 (yes, four years). I came along mid way through
to form a small CG team with another 3D guy called Terry Catrell. Our job was to create the intro, outro and cutscenes for this real-time
strategy game in roughly 18 months. It was while working on this project that I first had a crack at character animation with some sage
advice from Mr Catrell. At first it was as second animator on the opening sequence, animating Alan, the nerdy robot. Then I moved on to technical animation of their APC dropship flying and landing, finally I produced the lions share of the animation for the Outro animation. I also worked on the menu system for Z, which consisted of a stylised tank console, with elements that would light as your mouse passed over them (they also cast shadows, and had to be produced in five languages). As you can imagine this took a while to produce, but I think was worth it in the long run. I would like to post some of the animations produced for this game in the Animation area, but unfortunately the animations were encoded in the Bitmap Brothers own proprietary format, so no luck there :(. Still, here's a small selection of images I could garner from various sources. |
