A general CG site dedicated to covering news and reviews across most of the popular platforms. Inside CG also features a jobs area. No real bias towards any one platform.


3D Gate

3D Gate
A good comprehensive CG site which covers a large number of areas. Featues include news, software reviews, a news letter, buyers guide, tutorials, downloads, gallery and community areas. A nice cleanly laid out site with plenty of usefull info.


CG Channel

CG Channel
Another general CG site that features news, technology, artist profiles, archives and much more. A nice design gives this site a professional feel.

Is what it says, unfortunately at the momment it doesnt class 3DStudio Max or Lightwave as 'high end', although things do seem to be changing with the recent introduction of a Max specific forum. As I said above the site has a bias towards Maya and XSI, so if you use these packages a great resource for you. Also features some general news

Jeremy Birn's web site. Heavily biased towards tutorials for various platforms and on a variety of topics. These also feature lighting tutorials by Mr Birn himself.


Tamas Varga Sub-d Modelling Site

Sub-Division Modelling Resource
This site is run by Tamas Varga, an avid Sub-division modelling fan. It containts images of models produced using the technique and animated examples of key items being modelled, such as a human head and ear. It also contains links to accomplished Sub-D artists sites and a gallery.


Joe Alter

Joe and his Company Joe Alter Inc are the developers of the Lipservice facial animation system and a new Hair system called A Shave And A Haircut. It looks pretty neat and currently supports Lightwave and Renderman and of course any package that can render with Pixars Renderman.

A great resource for any serious Max artists. The site contains an extensive library of scripts that cover almost any area of use. Check it!

Virtual Republic Boboland

Virtual Republic Boboland
Run by Borislav Petrov (Bobo) this site is a source for free Max plugins and script penned by the fair hand of Mr Bobo himself, and he does some pretty great ones too. Check it!

Design4 Design4
Design4 is Discreet's Max publicity organ. It mirrors its printed analogue with features, news and technology updates that impact on anyone using 3DStudio Max for production, or for that matter fun.

Max Evangelists

Max Evangelists
Max Evangelists is a site run by Fred Moreau to promote the general use of Max. It features tips and tricks, tutorials and a script area that is home to Freds Freehand Tool3, a suite of script that give you the ability to paint geometry or splines on other surfaces. A great tool for animators and modellers both.


Blur Beta Blur-Beta
Blur-Beta has been a great resouce for the Max community for a number of years now. Here they release all of their internaly developed plugins for public domain.

Meshtools

Meshtools
Meshtools are a set of scripts that have been developed for Max4 to help match the feature set of other Sub-Division modellers such as Lightwave or Mirai. The site created by Meshtools developer Laszlo Sebo, contains news on its development and also downloads for the most up to date version

The number one (as far as I know) hardware site. A great site for those who want or need to keep up to date with the ever hectic pace of technology development. Covers technology from processors, memmory, hard-drives, PDA's, displays and blue sky research news.

A great collection of models available for a very reasonable price, roughly $500 for 5000 models, or 10 cents (7p) each. They're also of superior quality compared to other vendors, so get them while they're hot. Don't worry, I don't own shares :)
