Brazil R/S

Brazil R/S is a rendering system that was developed by Splutterfish's Steve Blackmon, Scott Kirvan & Cuneyt Ozdas. They planned to produce a Renderman compliant renderer with support for most of the high end rendering technologies currently available and a few that aren't. Currently Brazil is at release version 1.5, and the guys are feverishly working away on Brazil V2.0, a complete standalone cross platform re-write. This should hopefully be release later this year and will provide many new power features.

The images below come from two distinct phases of Brazil 1.0's development. The first block of images come from its early stages (0.1.3 +) and were centred around testing its underlying systems such as basic raytracing and features that would come to depend upon those functions i.e. Depth of field, Refraction and so on.

The second phase charts some of my tests on versions that span 0.1.4 to 0.29_26 and beyond. They are generally produced with models that I had found for free on the internet, or using model banks models at clients I worked at during that period.

Note: When Brazil 2.0 gets to the alpha/beta testing stage I hope to post more images to this page
